Magdolena (Madeline) & Cecilia Sierra
Magdolena (Madeline) was
the first child born to Annie and Celso Sierra in San Bernardino, California in
1884. She was raised a Catholic and went
to schools in San Bernardino and Fresno.
Madeline left home after her schooling, going to San Francisco where she
located work in Utah being a dance teacher. She also appeared on the stage in a
theater as a dancer. In the early part
of the 20th century a young girl appearing on stage was not considered a lady
like profession. Her parents were very
upset but did not love their daughter any less.
Madeline married a man named Charles Kelley. It has been said that Madeline became a
Mormon while living and working in Utah.
No data on Charles Kelley or death and interment of Magdolena.
Cecilia was born in 1885 in
San Bernardino, California. After
graduating from high school in Fresno she followed in her sisters footsteps
becoming a dancer on the stage in Utah.
She married Charles Bonnerud who was a photographer. From old post cards handed down in the family
both Cecilia and Madeline lived in San Francisco with their husbands at
different times. Cecilia's husband,
Charles, was an alcoholic and his occupation was photography. There were no children in either one of these
marriages. Cecilia died of cancer. Date and interment unknown.
